Karen, born and raised in Chicago, Illinois, is a veteran of law enforcement with a distinguished career in the Chicago Police Department and the Federal Air Marshal Service (FAMS). She is the Co-Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Guardian Training & Consulting, where she continues her commitment to developing people through high-level training and education. Since making her home in Arizona, she has also built a successful career in real estate across the valley.

During her tenure with the Chicago Police Department, Karen was assigned to Patrol, the Plain-Clothes Tactical Team (Tac Team), and ultimately the Marine Helicopter Unit. She is a PADI Certified Advanced Open Water, Dry Suit, and SCUBA Rescue and Recovery Diver, as well as a United States Coast Guard Certified Merchant Marine Officer.

During her time with the Federal Air Marshal Service, Karen traveled the world, amassing over 1.9 million miles while providing covert security and ensuring the safety of countless passengers and airline crew members.

In addition to serving as an operational Federal Air Marshal, she was a Department of Homeland Security Certified Firearms Instructor, Law Enforcement Fitness Coordinator, and Defensive Measures Instructor. She is also a graduate of the Law Enforcement Instructor Development Program and Reid and Associates Behavioral Recognition Interview and Interrogation Program. Karen is a proud member of the International Association of Law Enforcement Firearms Instructors.

Karen is also an NRA Law Enforcement Handgun Instructor and Pistol Mounted Optics Instructor, one of the first in the nation to hold certification in the red dot program.

Since transitioning from full-time law enforcement, Karen has continued her passion for teaching and service. She is an NRA Certified Firearms Instructor and Refuse To Be A Victim Instructor, as well as a USCCA Certified Instructor in Concealed Carry and Home Defense Fundamentals, Emergency First Aid Fundamentals, Countering the Mass Shooter Threat, and Use of Force Simulation.

Her depth of knowledge in firearms, tactics, and the law is available to anyone willing to learn. Karen is especially passionate about serving as an ambassador to women who are beginning their firearms journey and those seeking to build confidence in the safe handling and responsible carry of firearms.
